Lauriston Park Update
Mar 10, 2016
The summer has been very hot and dry this year. Our water supplies have held up very well once again. All the horses have coped well with the extremes of weather and are looking in excellent health.
We currently have some yearlings in doing a minnie preparation at present with the view of them being presented to be syndicated out. There are four that have already been placed with David Hayes Just down the road.
There will be another group coming in about six weeks time.
We have branded all the foals and all have had some initial handling on their mothers, weaning and more handling will commence shortly, as soon has this hot spell finishes.
Rock Hero had a very good result in his first season with us, and has let down into an even more impressive individual. He returned excellent fertility results. We are starting to get bookings for the upcoming breeding season. The sons of Fastnet Rock have been doing a great job so far and as their progeny develop and mature this should only get better, cannot wait to see Rock Hero's foals, not to long now.
Our other resident stallion Desert King continues to do what he does best, and that is produce good horses, recently Real Love has done an excellent job since coming over from WA to join Darren Weirs Stable. She is currently second favourite for the Adelaide Cup.Good Luck to connections.
Lauriston Park this year is also embarking on a major pasture renovation program, Lime has gone out and the first seeds will be direct drilled in the coming weeks, this should see all get back to normal after the fires of last year.
